Why Do Models Wear Such Weird Clothes in Fashion Shows?

Have you ever wondered why girls and boys in big fashion shows walk on the ramp wearing weird clothes? Is this fashion?

Sometimes, it literally feels terrible to see how all this is happening right before our eyes and why so many weird designer clothes are appreciated and accepted. Why are so many odd clothes made that are never even wearable in society? Even Hollywood celebrities would not like to wear those weird clothes. So why does such a strange fashion show get popularity?

You will know all this in this post.

Fashion is a vast industry in which the world's talents continue to showcase their art. We see exquisite dresses from which we can gauge the designer's creativity. But, we also find some weird, eerie, unwearable clothes and even a joke for people outside the fashion industry.

Why Do Designers Not Design Such Clothes In Fashion Shows We Can At Least Wear?

There are mainly two types of fashion shows:

  • Haute Couture (high-end fashion)

  • Prêt-à-Porter (Ready-to-Wear)

Prêt-à-Porter (Ready-to-Wear) clothes are the type of clothes that designers make to wear and sell in shops. There are many Prêt-à-Porter shows worldwide in which the models wear clothes on the ramp that you can eventually buy and wear. These are the Prêt-à-Porter clothes that people usually discuss the seasons. For example, in this season, it is IN, and it is Out, it is on trends, and it is out of fashion. What type of fabric/design and what will happen in fashion is usually defined in the Prêt-à-Porter, but these Prêt-à-Porter fashions are not well-received in the press and publications, nor do they seem as big headlines as Haute Couture. This is why we know little about all the fashion shows that feature regular wearable clothes.

Prêt-à-Porter Ready-to-Wear

Mainly, because of these weird clothes in Haute Couture fashion, the press/media gives them more importance. Naturally, when you find out that you will see melted or candlelight clothes in a fashion show, the media will report it more. This is a significant and short way for any fashion designer to enter the mainstream fashion industry. Haute Couture fashion reveals the designer's thinking and creativity and can hint at how much designers will work.

Haute Couture high-end fashion

For example, If you see some Haute Couture clothes from a famous designer, 'Elie Saab,' you may need help understanding his design. Still, at least you can understand the concept language that the designer uses, like light, thin fabric, and embroidery, and you can see distinct elegance in his work. When Elie Saab made Ready-to-Wear clothes for models and actresses, you can see the same language in those clothes as in Haute Couture, i.e., light, thin fabric, embroidery, and elegance.

Another example of Alexander McQueen, If you look at his Haute Couture clothes, you guess that these dresses will only be worn by some. Still, when you see the same language in red carpet dresses, the models look stunningly gorgeous.

At least it is clear from these examples that the fashion designer, when making Haute Couture, does not care about the question of how good or bad the dress is or whether or not people will like it, but a designer designs his creativity just like an artist puts his imagination on a painting canvas. A car manufacturing company introduces many concept cars with weird designs, but they do not make those cars. Also, there are two types of movies a 'commercial film' specifically for business and a non-commercial film that doesn't care for business. Sometimes, if you ask a critic about a commercial movie, he gives only a two-star, but if you ask about a non-commercial film, a critic gives 5 stars, but at the box office, it fails.

So mainly, Haute Couture fashion is only for some of the public. It allows the designer to show off his creativity as much as possible. Haute Couture fashion doesn't care how comfortable the clothes are or how easy it is to wear them; the designer just presents his creative thinking to the world. The judge of this creativity differs from the mainstream public, but an expert in the same field can decide whether the work is creative or whether the designer needs to do better.

It is better to consult the same field expert to judge the work quality of any field.
