This object looks like a pillow but is not. It is a masterpiece carved from marble, which looks exactly like a real pillow.
Norwegian sculptor Hakon Anton Fageras sculpted various human beings and objects. Suddenly he came up with why something should be built differently. Hakon is so expert in his work that some people touch the "marble pillows" to confirm whether it is marble or real pillow.
In an interview, Hakon revealed his interest in the medium, saying marble is good for showing the nuances of emotion. Because of the material characteristics of marble itself, it looks breakable. It is pretty breakable but not that fragile, and still, it looks so because of the pureness and translucency of the marble (stone). He further said that it supports sculpting at a precise level, but he seeks not to be too literal about it. I think my focus is to design an atmosphere, a feeling, more than a literal depiction of something that expresses, for instance, frangibleness.
